Nan Yost
Nannette Beatrice Mika was born on August 10, 1941 to John and Lily Mika, sister to Julia and John Jr. She completed grade school and went on to graduate from Hallahan High School for Girls in 1959. During her senior year she was the lead clarinetist for the school orchestra. She then went on to attend classes at Nazareth Hospital to become a lab technician. Her training lasted for two years – classes and hands on training. After her training was completed, she started working full time at the hospital. Nan married Bill Yost on October 14, 1961 and they had three children together – Lisa, Billy, and Bobby. She returned back to work at Nazareth Hospital on the 3 to 11 shift when Bobby turned six and she stayed until her illness began. During her time working, she was promoted to night shift supervisor and continued her education by attending Bucks County Community College. Besides spending time with her family, Nan loved to play tennis, ice skate, and read.
In January 1894, she had a seizure while at work and was diagnosed with brain cancer. She lost her battle on October 3, 1984.
